Want to learn the signs to the most popular zoo animals? AND see the real live animal at the same time?  Then here is your chance! Join us for a fun day with animals, signs, a picnic and fun!

Signing With Aloha is coming to C.O.F.F.E.E!!

Signing With Aloha classes are coming to Central Oahu Families for Fun, Education and Enrichment (C.O.F.F.E.E)!

Come learn American Sign Language (ASL) signs to help improve your child’s communication skills, reduce toddler tantrums, perhaps even increase their IQ and have lots of fun! In each class you and your child will engage in music and movement, learn the ASL signs to the words you use every day, and enjoy a craft activity!

Class will be held once a month on the 3rd Tuesday of each month.  Each class is 45 minutes in length, starting at 10 am at Celina’s home in Mililani.

Cost per class:

C.O.F.F.E.E. members: $10 for the first child, $5 for each additional child

Non-C.O.F.F.E.E. members: $15 for the first child, $5 for each additional child

There is a maximum of 10 adults per class, please RSVP early! Payment accepted at class, cash only.

If you are a non-C.O.F.F.E.E. and are interested in joining, please contact Katrina for more information.

FOR SAFETY PURPOSES: Only families who have already met Celina or Katrina are invited to this event. If you have not yet met us, please attend a public meet-up or email us to schedule a play date in a public location.

Join Signing With Aloha for a day filled with fun, games, prizes and entertainment!  We'll be at HGEA's first Keiki Connection, Family Resource Fair on Sunday, August 28, 2011 from 10am-2pm at Waipahu District Park.  See you there!

Rachel Coleman's inspiring blog post about child wearing!

Hello my awesome friends and followers...and you first timers! I have to share this with you!

Rachel Coleman, the co-founder of Signing Time has a blog! (www.rachelcoleman.com) She recently posted about what a positive experience her and her husband Aaron have had with baby wearing their two, now pre-teen daughters.  What warmed my heart was Rachel's account of how continuing to wear her now eleven-year-old daughter, Lucy (who was born with spina bifida and was diagnosed with cerebral palsy at 9-months), has allowed the Coleman family, especially Lucy, to experience moments that otherwise would have been lost to them.  Wheelchairs and strollers were an obstacle for the Coleman family, baby/child wearing was their answer!

I hope all of you are as inspired and heart warmed as I was by Rachel's story!  Never let others or society prevent you from doing what feels right for you, your child(ren) and your family!  I will continue to carry my almost 2-year old, happily and proudly in my Ergo carrier (www.ergobabycarrier.com)! I hope you share Rachel's story with someone and I hope it inspires them to be the parent they're meant to be!

Fall Planning!

As our summer classes come to a close, sniff sniff, I'm beginning to look at fall classes. I have one class set up at Pigtails and Crewcuts on Thursdays at 10:15am.  I am looking to start a few additional classes in different locations.  So, if you're interested or know anyone interested, please send them my way!

I will be changing the curriculum for the Fall classes.  The classes will have themes, such as, Zoo Animals, Aquarium Animals, Weather, Around the House, etc

Again, I am offering "Hosted" classes.  If you can find at least 5 parent/child pairs and someone is willing to host the class in their home, I can bring the class to you!  We can work out a schedule that works for the both of us. As an incentive, I am offering a FREE gift the person "hosting" the class and in the case that the person coordinating the class is a different person, a FREE gift to the person who rounds up all those parent/child pairs!

Through song, repetition, and fun, you and your child will experience the benefits of learning and using American Sign Language (ASL). Come learn the ASL signs that youʻre family will use everyday and see how the signs will enrich your lives!
Many children with Special Needs who are exposed to ASL have made major strides in their academics and social skills. Adults and seniors who no longer are able to communicate through speech (due to trauma or medical condition) also benefit from learning and using ASL, as it restores their ability to communicate and maintain relationships with those close to them.
I have 10+years of experience in the field of child development and am currently in my bachelorʻs of elementary education program. As a mom of a daughter who signed "baby" at 10 months old, I personally have experienced the benefits of using ASL with my daughter and my 7-year old niece. We have increased our bond and decreased the tantrums due to frustration. I am excited to share my success and passion with all of you!
